J ULIA'S MESSAGEIt’s getting to that time of year again when you will put on a costume (or tea-towel) and help to tell the nativity story in words and music. It is always a really special occasion with the church in darkness, as the same story is retold in a different style but with favourite carols and songs. The angels and shepherds from the beginners department always steal the show (sorry if you are older); they have the “cute” factor, so much more powerful than any X factor that may be lurking. The rest of you are of course important, without your input we would have no service to remind everyone of the true reason we celebrate the Christmas Festival. Small animals are always good fun to watch. The scene in “Bambi” when he first tries to stand is great to watch; the others encourage him with smiles and rejoice in his success. You do that so often with one another, when we have the “zone” mornings you are wonderful at sharing, co-operating and praising one another as you complete an activity. Sometimes, sadly, this is one aspect which seems to come so naturally to you that occasionally gets lost as we get older. Then we ridicule those who try and fail instead of allowing them to try again without worrying. To do something well we need to practise, be allowed to get it wrong and not be afraid to try again. When you take part in the services especially at this time of year be assured that everyone wants you to do well whatever your age. Mistakes are fine so long as you have tried your best by rehearsing your part so that you will feel nervous (that is only natural) but confident that you are with family and friends who love you and like God, want the best for you in whatever you do. So sparkle or read or sing or pose this Christmas and produce the “X” factor for yourself. Love through Jesus Julia
